Hyannis, Cape Cod, MA Autumn 2013 -- Hyannis Area Chamber of Commerce will launch the first annual Barnstable October Bash, an event which will celebrate October activities and events in Hyannis and its six sibling villages.

A fantastic day-long celebration will take place Saturday, October 26 and comprise a pumpkin carving, costume parade, pet parade, a "time warp," visits to Barnstable High School's haunted house Pumpkin Beer Festival, all-day kids' events and demonstrations on the Village green culminating in a Masquerade Ball "under the stars" on the Hyannis Green with music and dancing. The carved pumpkins will be lit and assembled along the Walkway to the Sea on the Village green, providing a true seasonal ambiance and a spooky start to the evening's events.

The traditional Safe Trick or Treat on Hyannis Main Street will take place from 4 to 6pm on Halloween, Thursday, October 31. Costumed kids of all ages, parents and chaperones will turn out to embrace the turn of autumn all the while having fun and high jinks with merchants and fellow revelers along Main Street.

"October is one of the most beloved months of the year in Barnstable. Its beauty and bounty are legendary. The Chamber decided to add an October event to draw visitors and locals to our town to patronize merchants, engage with the artists, artisans  and crafters in the Hyannis Cultural District and provide fun, safe activities for all," said Jessica Sylver, CEO of Hyannis Area Chamber.

For additional information about this and other events in the villages of the Town of Barnstable, please visit www.hyannis.com/visitors/things-to-do/barnstables-october-bash/ . Villages and organizers of October events in the Town of Barnstable's seven villages are encouraged to contact Jessica Sylver at jessica@hyannis.com to ensure a listing on the new webpage.
