Step Back in Time with King Richard's Faire

By Victoria Robillard - Publisher August 23, 2017

Every year in the small town that I grew up in the sixth grade participated in Medieval Day. The whole spring led up to this one day when the entire sixth grade would be let loose in the town forest to participate in a giant role-playing game. The mission was to earn points for your team by completing different challenges. The penultimate challenge was to rescue the princess and get her back to the school. This day was legendary in town. As a fourth grader, you would start to hear talk. By the fifth grade, you would have a list of characters that you hoped to play the next year. You waited through the doldrums of winter in the sixth-grade, planning and plotting your way to anticipated victory. I don’t know if they still have Medieval Day. I am sure for liability reasons they cannot allow the whole sixth grade to run free in the woods, swimming through brooks and throwing mud at one another. But my skin still tingles with the magic of that day and that is why I cannot wait to escape reality with King Richard’s Faire, which is set to open on September 2nd for its 36th season. Yes, I understand that the Medieval Era and the Renaissance were two different distinct periods in history. It is the magic of stepping back in time that I am excited to share with my family.

If you would like to share it would your family too, I have a very special discount code just for Macaroni Kid readers.
