Selfie Scavenger Hunt

By Victoria Robillard - Publisher July 18, 2018

If you are bored with watching TV for sort-of-date-night, need an idea to get the kids out this summer or want to do something fun with friends this local Selfie Scavenger Hunt sounds like just what you need!

The publisher from Macaroni Kid Concord New Hampshire came up with this idea and I love it. I can not wait to try it out with my family. When you play the game be sure to share with us on social media.

How to  Do a Selfie Scavenger Hunt

There are many ways you can do this local selfie scavenger hunt. Take a look over these suggestions and choose whatever works best or come up with your own variation:

1. Leisurely Hunt- In a leisurely scavenger hunt there would be no competition. This works best if you only have one vehicle or driver, if you want to take your time exploring, or want to spend quality time with everyone participating. The process is simple, especially for this type. Just grab the Selfie Scavenger Hunt Checklist, get in the car with whoever is participating, and work your way through completing each task at the pace you choose.

2. Double Date- If you want to spend some quality time with your special someone and also hang out with friends, you will enjoy doing the selfie scavenger hunt as a double date. The concept is the same as the leisurely one, but it is a race. For 2 couples, you will need 2 vehicles. In addition, there is the added fun of determining the winner. After one couple is finished the checklist, meet back at a set location to review the pictures. This may be at a nice restaurant for dessert, back at home for more fun and games, a coffee shop, or anywhere you'd like.

3. Small or Large Group- This would be a really fun activity for youth groups, play groups, or any group. The group can be split up however the leaders see fit. You may want to promote mingling and therefore have it totally random or put people together that you know don't know each other well. If you have many families involved, it is probably easiest to just keep each family together and have each use their own vehicle. Be sure you meet before and after the scavenger hunt in order to go over rules and determine a winner.

Just a Few Tips

* Determine and discuss rules in advance such as "Does everyone from group need to be in every picture?" and "NO TAKING SELFIES WHILE DRIVING, CROSSING THE STREET, etc!"

* Schedule a short time for each group to create a strategy before heading out to take selfies.

* Have a set time to meet back or have a group text, so you can meet back at the same time.

* If you choose to meet at a set time whether or not the list is completed, the winner can be the one that completes the most. Although another option is to determine a set amount of points for each one (maybe more points for the more difficult, for example).

* You may want to reward the winning group/couple with something like... their dessert is paid for by the loser or they get to choose the next date night.

* Most importantly have a great time!
