The five hours between when my kids get home from school until the time they are tucked into bed are the busiest five hours of our day. Between snacks, dance, homework, dinner, baths and other evening activities I feel like I am spinning in circles. I always have the intention of getting so much done in that short five hour window and I always fall short.
At the end of the night after the books were read and the teeth were brushed I would crawl into my own bed and wonder if I spent the time I had with my kids wisely. At the end of the night when I am tired is when the mom guilt hits hard. In an effort to direct the mom guilt to another time I day I decided to be more mindful in those short 5 hours from backpacks on the floor to heads on pillows. Now after dinner and before books we play a game together. It extends our family time around the dinning room table for just a few minutes and in the rush of daily life it allows us to have a little fun together. Now, as I lay my own head on my pillow, I don't fixate on how I could have kept my cool after stepping on a lego left in the middle of the floor, or the fact that I was distracted by making dinner as my child told me about their day, I think about the fun we had playing together.
I was excited when a package arrived with the new game Inchworm from Ravensburger arrived. With the daylight stretching past dinner time we cannot wait for spring and these cute little e critters have us dreaming of warm weather, sun lighting and digging in our garden.
Available exclusively at Walmart, Inch Worms is a brightly-colored game my whole family can play together. Each little inch worm lives in the grassy mound until a player spins the spinner and begins to pull them out. The double sided spinner makes the game interesting for everyone by promoting color recognition and counting skills. Older kids can practice adding and comparison skills as the game ends and each player tallies up the length of their worms. I love that this is a quick-play game so even if our dinner has been pushed late we can still get a game or two in before bed time.
Inch Worm is a great way to keep your kids off their screens this April Vacation or even add it to an Easter basket. It will help you get into a warm weather mood.
