Our Adventure Day Out!

Our Visit to Off the Wall Kidz in Carver

By Erin Michael, Plymouth MA Macaroni Kid Publisher April 10, 2021

Last week, Thomas and I enjoyed an “adventure day out”. What is an adventure day out (besides a term created by a three year old)?  A day we spend doing something we love or something new to us, just him and I. Last week, our adventure took us to Off the Wall Kidz in Carver!

We had been there before, but Thomas was much younger so I was excited to see him enjoy it as a three year old. As we walked through the doors, we were greeted with bright colors and energetic music. He looked at me and said “I think this is going to be fun!”. He was right.

The employees who checked us in were so friendly and inviting. We signed our waiver, and had our temperature checked. Then, we took off our shoes (but kept our socks on) and ran off to play. Thomas immediately climbed up to the first slide - a giant one, with fun images projected onto it. From there he spotted two more slides he needed to try out. There were even “dueling” slides that we raced down a few times.

From there, we checked out the toddler area. Off the Wall Kidz had a dedicated toddler area for children 1-5. While it seemed a little young for Thomas, he played there for a good amount of time. I can’t wait to go back with Henry because I know he would have a BLAST playing in the toddler area, and I wouldn’t have to worry about him hurting himself - it is almost completely padded.

Thomas also had such a good time on the ride on toys and in the imaginative play area. I used to love the supermarket at the Boston Children’s Museum when I was younger, and this little area reminded me so much of that. They even have a New York Fashion Week space - I had to hold myself back from playing along!

When we were first invited to enjoy the day at Off the Wall Kidz, I was a little nervous because we hadn’t done anything like that since Covid hit. However, I am so glad we did. Off the Wall Kidz is spotless - and for the 2 hours we were there, I saw someone cleaning something for the entire time. It was so clean and they followed all Covid protocols perfectly.

When I was leaving, I noticed they had a nursing mother’s room - complete with toys for your other children to play with. As a nursing mom, I couldn’t appreciate this more. Part of my apprehension about bringing Henry was my worry that he would want to nurse, and Thomas would be wild.

Off the Wall Kidz has truly thought of everything. We had a blast, I got a little break, and Thomas left exhausted. We can’t wait to go back!
