Every few weeks, Plymouth Macaroni Kid will introduce you to an amazing, local mom. Nothing makes us happier than supporting incredible women. I am so excited to have the opportunity to introduce you to some of the Plymouth Area's finest!
This week, I'd love to introduce you to Stacia! Stacia is the owner/director, and former student at Tiny Town Children's Center! Stacia embodies determination, perseverance, and hard work - she has accomplished so much, all before the age of 30! Read on to find out more about Stacia and her amazing go-getter attitude.
1. How many kids do you have and how old are they?
1 boy Thomas, he will be 2 in July! He is my first and my miracle baby!
2. What town do you live/work in? What is your favorite thing about the Plymouth area?
Plymouth - Manomet for LIFE! I was born and raised here, it feels like home, I love being by the beach but also the woods, you get a little of everything.
3. What do you like to do for fun with your kids in the Plymouth area? Without your kids?
We love trying new places to eat, different places to walk and new playgrounds to try. We love being with our dog Stella, taking her to the beach. We enjoy spending time with friends and family, we are lucky a lot of our family is also still in Plymouth.
4. Tell me about Tiny Town Children's Center and how it came about. Is Tiny Town your full-time job?
Tiny Town Inc. was previously owned and operated by my late Nana, Toni Powers. She was so fantastic at teaching many young children in Plymouth since 1985, she was my inspiration. I worked at Tiny Town as a teacher all through high school and college, as well as other schools in the city, and I became Director in 2016 when I graduated from UMass Boston. In 2018 both of my beloved grandparents passed away 3 months apart, leaving full ownership to me, and I am forever grateful and proud to keep it running as well as making it my own. I have kept up the many traditions and values of Tiny Town while also implementing new traditions, updating policies, adopting and adapting to new practices, and assuring a child centered environment that is flexible for all diverse learners. As a first time parent myself, it is exciting to watch my child to attend the preschool I went to that my family built, as well as attending the school his Mama is creating where I know he is loved and learning.
5. Where can we learn more about your business?
At Tiny Town we really try to be an extension of home! We want you to feel comfortable dropping off your child, and to rest assured that they will be engaged and cared for throughout their school day. I am happy to give a walk through tour any time, as well as answer any questions on our online social media platforms such as our website, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and even Snapchat! I always encourage a phone call, an email, and even drop by with the whole family to check us out! We like families to come and see us as we are!
6. How do you balance work and life? Any tips?
Like any business owner and first time parent, the work-life balance can be a struggle, especially in your 20's! It is a 24/7 job. It is hard work, determination, self discipline, self care, and with the support of loved ones I get through it. Some days are better than others, but working with young children you really can't be too stressed! They are full of light and laughter always, and that is truly what has kept me going through a tough business takeover, loss of family, the pandemic, and a NICU baby. It was the graduation ceremonies, the arts and crafts, the music pouring out these windows that is always the push to keep going. You just feel apart of something bigger at Tiny Town. I really try to take time for a work break and walk my dog during the day, or go out and about on the weekends if I am not working on the school.
Tell us your favorite places in the Plymouth Area to...
EAT - I get Top Notch a lot while at work with all the teachers, we also love Aroma Tavern, Stowell's, Jolly Bean, and Marylou's!
PLAY with kids - My little guy is still just getting his feet under him so we do a lot of playgrounds like on Nelson St. and we have also visited Off the Wall Kids and that was fun!
PLAY without kids - My husband and I love to get dinner and drinks at G-Pub, Pinz, and Dillons!
FAVORITE LOCAL BUSINESS - I always support any daycare or preschool business in the area! It takes a village to help raise the kiddos of Plymouth!
Thank you, Stacia!
