Learn more about Thomas' story here:

Hello! My name is Eileen Osborne, my autistic non-verbal son Thomas was diagnosed with Acute T-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 3 back in 2019. During this time, my husband Joel was working as a bar tender and I was a full time college student and stay at home mother to two children. Shortly after Thomas’ diagnosis, COVID-19 had hit our world hard and created more nightmares for our family. Restaurants closed, Joel lost his job, our only income. We were terrified with the thoughts of how we were going to be able to afford gas to get to the city for Thomas’ treatments, or how we would buy the kids winter clothes for that upcoming winter. How on Earth is our family of four, going to survive on absolutely no income?

My children, husband, and I were in a complete crisis and needed help immediately. That is when Dana Farber had introduced us to their organization, The Family Resource Center. The Family Resource Center is a non-profit organization at Boston Children’s Hospital and Dana Farber’s Jimmy Fund Clinic. They provide families in need with countless resources to ensure comfortability, stability and relief for families who are already going through such a hard time. This organization helped my family with gas, clothes, food, and even paid for our home bills and helped pay for college bills when we otherwise could not do so. This is just a glimpse of what this organization does for families. They pay for patients and their families to be put in hotel rooms, pay for airfare, purchase iPads so that families can FaceTime their loved ones during hospital stays.

NONE of these resources would be available if it were not for the gracious donations that The Family Resource Center receives.

Our family friend, Nadine LeBeau, and I were struggling with coming up with a reason as to “why”, “why did this happen to Thomas”? He is thesweetest boy, he is so pure and innocent. Nadine and I absolutely needed to find a silver lining for this situation because Thomas getting cancer and already having an autism diagnosis could not go unjust. So, after hours of searching and not being able to come up with a suitable answer, we decided to create our own silver lining. And with that, Thomas’ Re[Mission] was created.

Thomas’ Re[Mission] is a family commutative event that will bring our whole community together to celebrate Thomas, while also raising money for The Family Resource Center at Dana Farber in fun and creative ways. Dana Farber and The Jimmy Fund Clinic receive donations very frequently. However, unless the donor specifies that they want their donations to go to specifically their Family Resources Center, the donations do not reach them. This is why Thomas’ Re[Mission] is so important. All proceeds from our event are going directly to The Family Resource Center. Let’s give Thomas the biggest remission family party that he could ever imagine. We want to mix our families together with ALL of yours and celebrate! There will be a live music, food trucks, a beer garden, face painting, character meet and greets, jumpy pillows and so many more family activities for parents and children of all ages.

Nadine and I have organized every thing for Thomas’ Re[Mission] by ourselves. So please, if anyone would like to contact either Nadine or I to help us in anyway please email us at thomasremission@gmail.com raffle baskets and prizes would be much appreciated!!

Thank you so much! We hope to see you and your family there!!!

Love,

Thomas’ Re[Mission] Team
