Gabriel: I’m a great believer in the power of history to elevate and enrich the human experience. It opens our minds to new traditions, ideas, stories, and perspectives in the same way as traveling abroad, but here we move in time rather than space from the comfort of Plymouth, MA. I chose this profession to help guests discover the beauty and value of exploring that strange and unapproachable foreign country we call The Past.

Hallyann: As a Colonial Educator at Plimoth Patuxet Museums, I have the pleasure of teaching students of various ages about the history of Plimoth and the two cultures that met on these shores 400 years ago. I have taught theatre and English in Massachusetts schools for 20 years and love being with students.

Tim: I am from the Cherokee Nation. I have worked for Plimoth Patuxet for 34 years. I am the Associate Director of indigenous Education at Plimoth Patuxet Museums.

Lindsey: I have been working at PPM for just under a year. I have spent my adult life teaching and coaching children. I am the former Director of Silver Shell Lacrosse Summer Camp.

What do you love about camp? What makes Plimoth Patuxet the place to be this summer? What makes this experience unique for campers?

Gabriel: Plimoth Patuxet Summer Camp gives campers incomparable access to the sites, activities, and expertise of our world famous institution. Whether it’s dressing up as a Pilgrim like our famous Public History Performers, dock-sailing the Mayflower II with her crew, learning Indigenous crafts from our Homesite staff, or much more, every facet of the museum is included. Every day is a new theme loaded with action from morning to afternoon. Our campers won’t be missing anything behind the scenes.

Hallyann: Nowhere else can young learners be so immersed in the history of some of the founding years of our country, from both the native and colonists’ perspectives. Everything we do is hands-on and as authentic as possible. Few places teach young Thespians about historical museum performance, which is a new and growing theatrical art form.

Tim: What makes Plimoth Patuxet camps special is the staff that works here. I never seen a better group of people so dedicated to teaching this history.

Lindsey: I love that camp provides an immersive hands-on experience that a child can't get anywhere else. PPM summer camp is the place to be this summer because children will have an educational experience that allows them to explore what 17th-century life was like and how we can use what we have learned about the past to educate others and have fun while doing it! This experience is unique because campers will have access to experts and participate in experiences with them that most people will never get to do in their life time.
