Description
The myth used to be that Plymouth has a pond for every day of the year - 365. In fact there are 450 ponds in Plymouth. Over the course of several weeks we're leading hikes to the smallest, a special example of what are known as 'coastal plain ponds,' where some of the rarest flowers are often found, and a 'Pretty but Polluted' pond. Sign up for one, two or all three and enjoy a nice hike, rare sights, and special insights courtesy of your hosts - the SEMass Pine Barrens Alliance, and a grant from the State's MVP program.
You might not be able to tell the difference between a Coastal Plain Pond and any other pond, but Karro Frost can: she'll explain why these ponds are so unique, so important. She'll point out (if we're lucky) the rare flowers that appear on their shores when conditions are right. We'll meet at the Myles Standish State Forest HQ, then make our way over.
