Mac Dad Take Over - The Banking System

A Dad's attempt to explain the world to his kids

By Mark Robillard - Macaroni Dad for Plymouth MA July 25, 2018

On the last Wednesday of the month I am going to bring you some thoughts on parenting in an article and the last weekend of every month I will be taking over the Macaroni Kid Plymouth MA social media to bring a different perspective. This is all part of what I am calling the #MacDadTakeOver.

A few weeks ago we were at the library and my daughter got a packet from a local bank about their summer reading program. She could earn money for reading books. Ali ran right home eager to fill out the forms, read the books and return the packet to the bank to cash in. Then I tried to explain to her that they would not be passing out cash and that she would need to open a savings account and the money would need to go into the savings account.

The conversation did not go well. If you ever wanted to know how much you didn't know about a topic try explaining it to a smart and skeptical 6 year old.

I think I convinced her if the return on investment is enough she will invest but she might be holding out until after the release their quarterly earnings report to makes sure she is making a good fiscal decision.
