One of our favorite parts of the Halloween season, is reading these books over and OVER! They're a perfect blend of not-so-spooky balanced fun. We own all 4, but many can be picked up at your local library! Can't find them in time for Halloween? They can all be found as read alouds on YouTube! Happy reading!

Room on the Broom

This book is our favorite Halloween book - those are big shoes to fill! Filled with rhyme and lovable characters, this book is best for 3-5 year olds, but kids of all ages can enjoy it. You can stream a video version of this book, too.

There Was An Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything

This book is just about as fun as it gets. Use it to sequence events or listen for rhyming. This timeless classic is perfect for reading aloud and enjoying together on the couch.

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything

Big Pumpkin

Inspired by a Russian folktale, The Turnip, this story is about a witch that wants to make pumpkin pie for her friends, but she can't get the pumpkin off the vine. One at a time, her friends come to help her. But it isn't until they work together than they accomplish the task. Lots of rhyming and repetition in this book that is fun for all readers!

The House That Drac Built

One by one, creepy characters come into this house, that Drac built. They are rowdy and mischeivous, until the doorbell rings - and trick or treaters arrive. The illustrations in this story are creepier than others, but the fun word play. rich vocabulary, and content make it perfect for ages 5-7.
