By Victoria Robillard - Publisher July 25, 2018

Did you know that Macaroni Kid is built upon 10 Core Values? As a Macaroni Kid Publisher, these values guide my actions and decisions. Each week for the next ten weeks I am going to break down one of the core values and share why it is important to me and my Macaroni Kid edition. I am also going to complete a video series which will go live every Wednesday evening so subscribe to our youtube channel and be the first to see each video.

"There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or to be the mirror that reflects it." - Edith Wharton

The way of Macaroni Kid - Core Value #2 Empower Each Other

I don't believe we can accomplish anything in life with out working  with others. And when we empower others to do better, to do more and to do great things we also achieve greatness.

The Macaroni Kid community is shinning example of how to be both the candle and the mirror. Each of the over 500 publishers brings something wonderful and different to Macaroni Kid and by sharing and collaborating these ideas can spread and develop in to programs that help communities from coast to coast. For example Macaroni Kid Act of Kindness Day on September 15, where Macaroni Kid Communities all over the place (including Macaroni Kid Plymouth - More information coming) will complete acts of kindness both small and large, started with someone saying "I have an idea." When we empowers the ideas of others great things happen.

I work every day to empower members of my local community. Most days it is in very small ways like Small Business Saturdays, the second Saturday of the month I encourage you to post about your favorite small business and learn about the small businesses parents love in the area. Or Mom Boss Monday (Coming the last Monday of each month) were you can give a shout out to all parents who are doing a great job and being a "boss" at what ever they do. I have my eyes and heart set on bigger ways to empower all of you. Macaroni Kid, like life, is a work in process and I am so thankful for the empowerment that I receive from my fellow publishers and my community and I hope to be a mirror reflect all of that light back to you.
